Cultivating your Own Garden

In the news we are always hearing about how companies are leveled rural areas in favor of apartment blocks and supermarkets and whether you agree or disagree with some of these "projects" what we can all agree on as a fact is that every year the great outdoors is getting smaller and smaller.

One of the ways in which we can stop this happening is by turning or misshapen yards and overgrown gardens into a place where our kids and our kids kids can enjoy the magic of the great outdoors.

Here's some gardening tips to help you get started cultivating your own garden.

Make a Plan

Whether you plan on a small garden or a sprawling public garden, your going to need a plan of what you want to do. There is a number of ways you can do this from getting professional help to using pen and paper.

I personally prefer the pen and paper method which basically allows me to make a birds eye view of my garden and then write down what I want each area to be from "flowering beds" to "play area" although the children seem to think they are both the same thing.

Get the Right Tools

Your always going to need tools to implement the changes to your garden unless of course you again go down the professional help route. I recommend Timberpro.

Stay Motivated!

It may be difficult to start a garden but it is a lot harder to carry through with your garden plans until they are completely finished. Remind yourself why you are doing this. Make a schedule for when you work on your garden and ensure nothing interrupts it, basically stay focused on the task at hand and I promise you it will be done in no time.

Video Blogging

For a very long time I was very committed to reading blogs and following blogs with written content and never really watched YouTube or even Vimeo but lately I have started seeing the light. A recent video on endangered animals was absolutely amazing but you would never have been able to convey the information in the video if it was written down. This got me curious...

I did  some research looking for a green video blog and managed to find a really good one and now I am really enjoying the video side of blogging the only problem is I don't have the patience or skill to make one myself but you should definitely check these guys out. Definitely my favorite website at the moment.

Laying Foundations for a Greener Future

How Groundwork can Help with the Rising Population

Preparing for overcrowding the green way

Sometimes we must look at separate problems separately in order to deal with them. One important problem if you like is the rising population. The rising population in itself is not a problem but the demand it create is. These demands include food, water, clothing & houses.

How much space is there?

Space is one of the biggest issues when it comes to housing. One of the most overcrowded countries in the world is china and they currently live in houses a fraction of the size of houses in the UK. On of the most under crowded countries is the USA and are houses in the UK are a fraction the size of theirs. So we are technically have a set limit on how much living space is available but can we increase this living space?

Increasing our Living Space?

Currently in one of my relatives estates their house is being knocked down. They are getting a shiny new one to replace it so they aren't exactly complaining but I am. Why are these perfectly good houses getting knocked down when they are so drastically needed? Because the foundations where not built correctly. Well they where but do not meet current regulations and where deemed potentially dangerous. So we have messed up houses are being knocked down as soon as more are built but just because the previous generation did not have the knowledge or experience does not mean that we don't and we can prepare for the next generation and ensure these houses will stand the test of time.

Applying Good Piling to Buildings

At the heart of all this is the need for good foundations in the new houses being built. These houses need to be able to be there for our kids and our kids kids and the only way we are going to achieve this is by hiring good piling companies. These piling companies will ensure that good piling is laid down and the foundations will last a long long time. With our ever increasing population this is what the focus needs to be on.
